The Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University (Abu Dhabi campus) organized a workshop titled “My Farming, My Self-Sufficiency” in collaboration with the General Women’s Union. The workshop was presented by Engineer Amjad Omar Al-Akhal, Director of Emirates Hydroponic Farms for Vegetables, and covered several key topics, including the historical evolution of agriculture, an introduction to hydroponic farming, the benefits of applying such agricultural practices, and the main types of plants suitable for hydroponic systems. The workshop also featured a practical component where students learned about different agricultural media, types of seeds suitable for hydroponic farming, and how to plant in alternative media to soil. These activities aim to enhance environmental awareness among students and encourage them to adopt sustainable agricultural practices. By learning about hydroponic farming techniques, students can apply this knowledge in their daily lives and contribute to conserving natural resources. Additionally, the workshop helps students develop practical skills in agriculture and environmental conservation.
